SUMMARY

Join the residents of Winslow Island for a fun-filled, opposites-attract, sweet romance – full of piggyback rides and scrumptious baked goods.

It might be Winslow Island’s annual Matchmaking Festival, but Tessa has more important things to worry about, like how to keep her mother’s bed and breakfast in business.

Parker’s life is as precise and planned as the surgeries he performs. He’s on track for a career-making promotion – if he can improve his bedside manner.

When his mother plans a family celebration for the same weekend as the Matchmaking Festival, Parker suspects he’s in for a series of sneaky setups. But with his promotion fast approaching, he has no time for distractions – until Tessa crashes into him in a shower of glitter, wreaking havoc with his plans and his heart.

With a temper as fiery as her red hair, she’s a distraction too tempting to ignore.

Tessa is determined to resist Parker’s charms – even if his smile makes her toes curl. He’s only on the island for five days, and she won’t risk a broken heart. But with the festival in full swing, resisting Parker is proving harder than she expected, especially when he becomes the key to saving her mother’s business.

REVIEW

It’s a sweet, light, cute and clean romance, which I’m fancy of. The story was so interesting even though there’s a little bit flaw that I’ve found for example, like it’s pretty clichΓ¨ but I like it. I think it’s relevant to the contemporary romance genre. I love the setting. I really hope the island exist! I also love the characters, I ship them a lot where a bright girl named Tessa meets an arrogant and cold-blooded doctor, Parker. I adore the interconnected stories between them, I don’t how many times I’m flushed every time I read their scenes. I’d say that the characters were so compatible.

If you are looking for light and breezy romance, I’d recommend this book for you to read. It’s something cute and light to pamper your heart. Anyway, the book is finally out and congratulations Chrissy Elliot!

Synopsis

Just know from the start that it wasn’t supposed to go like this. All we wanted was to get near them. That’s why we got a room in the hotel where they were staying.

We were not planning to kidnap one of them. Especially not the most useless one. But we had himβ€”his room key, his cell phone, and his secrets.

We were not planning on what happened next.

We swear.

Review

Kill the Boy Band is about obsessive fans of The Ruperts, who will having a concert in American soon and these girls, Erin, Isabel, Apple and I were willing to give a damn to meet them. This book so much amusing, I laughed too much, full of humors and heart-breaking at the same time. I love the plot twisting so much.

I totally love the writing style where I represent as the narrator and I do feel like I am the character of this book. I love the feeling where I myself able to immerse and dive into the situation. I something which I did really in that kind of situation. It’s feels so dreamy. I swear there’s a lot of squealing.

Overall, I really enjoy and love this book. I do feel like I’m returning back to school. I literally miss it, tbh. If you ever wanted to meet your high school favs boy band, yes, this book this for you. I recommend this for the one who really want to dive into the celebrity’s dark side as well.

Thank so much for your time to read my review. Till next time.

A Midsummer Night’s Scream by R.L. Stine

Horror, Young Adult, Thriller

INFORMATION

Title: A Midsummer Night’s Scream
Author: R.L. Stine
Publication Date: 1st July 2014
Publisher: Square Fish
Pages: 249

My Rating(s): 🌟🌟🌟

Synopsis

It was a horror movie that turned into real horror–three young actors lost their lives while the camera rolled. Production stopped, and people claimed that the movie was cursed.

Sixty years later, new actors are venturing onto the haunted set. In a desperate attempt to revive their failing studio, Claire’s dad has green-lit a remake of Mayhem Manorβ€”and Claire and her friends are dying to be involved.

At first, Claire laughs at Jake’s talk of ghosts and curses. He’s been too busy crushing on her best friend Delia to notice that she’s practically been throwing herself at him. What does he know? And anyway, this is her big chance to be a star!

When shooting starts, though, the set is plagued by a series of horrible accidentsβ€”could history be repeating itself?

Review

A Midsummer Night’s Scream is such a relaxing horror read. It’s about a remake of unfinished movie – Mayhem Manor that has been abandoned for 60 years. Narrated by Claire Woodlands who been so excited because she’ll be a character of the movie. However, I thought it’s gonna be exciting and thrilling, but it’s doesn’t really reach my expectations.

I’m not going to lie that I enjoy reading this. I love the elements Stine add in. There’s horror, thriller and comedy so it was a fun read. I love the subplot that helps it being more mysterious. Stine is known as a plot twister author, so there’s a plot twist that make you need more to read. It’s so frustrating, sometimes.

As for characters, I’d enjoyed it if the interaction between between the main male and main female characters are more secure and connected each other. I found something bleak in character development.

Honestly, I was attracted by the cover. It’s too intriguing for me. Overall, I’d like to say that I do enjoy reading this book. It’s such a chilling and relaxing summer read.

Title:Β Temptation
Author:Β R.L. Stine
Publication Date:Β 10th July 2012
Publisher: Simon Pulse
Pages:Β 407

My Rating(s): 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Synopsis

The vampires of Sandy Hollow crave the summer months. Summer means plenty of beach tourists…and plenty of fresh blood after months of deprivation. But this year the Eternal Ones have decided to spice things up with a little bet: The first to seduce a hot date of the human variety, and then turn him into a fellow creature of the night, wins.

In order to successfully turn their prey, they must take only three small sips of blood on three different nights. If they take too much blood on any night, the human will die and the bet will be lost.

The setup sounds simple enough, but things quickly get complicatedβ€”especially since each vampire is just dying to quench her thirst.

Review

The Goodnight Kiss is about a bet between the 2 vampires (Gabri and Jessica) hunting for a β€˜nectar’- a human blood, obviously. Only 3 sips and then the human will became immortal. And the vampire targeting human almost every night. The Goodnight Kiss is such an introduction and the beginning story of the Sandy Hollow’s vampires. April as the main character of the Goodnight Kiss where she’s become an immortal. I thought it was a never ending vampire turning, but, the story changes from time to time.

As for Goodnight Kiss 2, I found it more interesting compared to the first story. When a humanΒ discoversΒ about theΒ vampire’sΒ existence, theyΒ are seekingΒ for revenge. And the main character is Billy, he was obsessed of vampire and believe in vampire. His friends were making fun of him not until a mysterious girl volunteered to help him. I love the intriguing feeling while reading this. There’s also some plot twist thatΒ makesΒ it fascinating and interesting.

The Vampire ClubΒ is a short story of high school students, forming a club to hunt the vampires. In my view, this story does not necessarily added at all but, I’ll take it as a bonus read. However, I enjoyed it because of the ending. I swore it took my breath out.

Overall, I’d like to say that I really enjoy this book. I’d like to RECOMMEND this book if you love a Spooky Summer vibe. It’s also a relaxing read because it’s such a light horror reads.

Review

Truth be told, I’m not a big fan of romance, but it doesn’t mean that I despise romance. I think romance is such a seasoning spice to add in any kind of genre, even there’s romance in the horror genre, amirite?

Okay, let’s get back to A Guarded Love! It’s a simple, quick pace story, so sweet and dreamy. I’m not going to lie, there’s a little flaw but it doesn’t ruin the whole plot. If the story a little much longer I’m gonna love it! On couple first pages, I thought it’s cliche, but it’s well-developed, there’s a twist. I love the flow. There’s a suspense and you may see the love progress. It’s also about how you regain your trust in a relationship.

I love the hero of this book, Landon Ross. He’s such a sweet guy. So protective and responsible. I love the development of the chemistry between these two main characters. Landon is such a perfect partner for Kristin. I’d like to say, she’s lucky!

I’d RECOMMEND you to read this if you have ever dreamt of dating a celebrity. It’s so cute and sweet!

The Hunger Games (Hunger Games #1) by Suzanne Collins

INFORMATION

Title: The Hunger Games
Series: Hunger Games #1
Author: Suzanne Collins
Publication Date: 14th September 2008 (Scholastic)
Pages: 464

My Rating(s): 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Synopsis

Twelve boys and twelve girls are forced to appear in a live event called The Hunger Games. There is only one rule: kill or be killed. When sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen steps forward to take her younger sister’s place in the games, she sees it as a death sentence. But Katniss has been close to death before. For her, survival is second nature.

Review

“Happy Hunger Games! May the odds be ever in your favour.”

I think this is the best apocalyptic YA novel that I’ve ever read. I love the concept of the story. It’s so creative for the idea of hunting game to death as the public entertainment. Sounds cruel. Yeah! It’s about survivalist. And also something like metaphorical hunger for political freedom. I love the style of writing where Katniss Everdeen as the narrator. And this is a story of a girl on fire!

In this book, I’d like to say that I personally love all the characters (especially the boy with the bread, Peeta). They are all well-done! I love the main character, Katniss Everdeen. She both pure and ruthless on her action, especially her provocation against the Capitol. Her hunting skill amazed me, she’s very good at bow and arrow. The side characters also super well developed for me. They’re all making the story interesting.

Also, I love the setting. A dystopian country called Panem surrounded by 12 poorer districts ruled by Capitol who develop The Hunger Game (a televised competition from 2 tributes in each district) as their entertainment. It’s sort of a high tech country. I love that.

I really really appreciate the smudge of romance in this novel doesn’t overpower the whole story. It’s like a pinch of love just to make it better. This is also a novel where it doesn’t solely hang on triangle love. That’d be fair enough and no frustration. Honestly, I appreciate that. Thank you Suzanne Collins!

Overall, I love reading this book and enjoy it so much. I learnt something to never underestimate people on how they look. I’d RECOMMEND The Hunger Games for a science fiction freak and everyone too.

Thank you so much for reading my review. Till next time!

Lea.
