I think this is the best apocalyptic YA novel that I’ve ever read. I love the concept of the story. It’s so creative for the idea of hunting game to death as the public entertainment. Sounds cruel. Yeah! It’s about survivalist. And also something like metaphorical hunger for political freedom. I love the style of writing where Katniss Everdeen as the narrator. And this is a story of a girl on fire!
In this book, I’d like to say that I personally love all the characters (especially the boy with the bread, Peeta). They are all well-done! I love the main character, Katniss Everdeen. She both pure and ruthless on her action, especially her provocation against the Capitol. Her hunting skill amazed me, she’s very good at bow and arrow. The side characters also super well developed for me. They’re all making the story interesting.
Also, I love the setting. A dystopian country called Panem surrounded by 12 poorer districts ruled by Capitol who develop The Hunger Game (a televised competition from 2 tributes in each district) as their entertainment. It’s sort of a high tech country. I love that.
I really really appreciate the smudge of romance in this novel doesn’t overpower the whole story. It’s like a pinch of love just to make it better. This is also a novel where it doesn’t solely hang on triangle love. That’d be fair enough and no frustration. Honestly, I appreciate that. Thank you Suzanne Collins!
Overall, I love reading this book and enjoy it so much. I learnt something to never underestimate people on how they look. I’d RECOMMEND The Hunger Games for a science fiction freak and everyone too.
